H1
...to this. It is incredible what excesses we enjoy. It is the end of an era...of sorts. GM has announced that 2006 will be the last new model year for the H1 Hummer. The H1 is based on the military HUMVEE. Only in America would a civilian model of a military vehicle make it to the road and become a status symbol for the elite. Of course GM will continue to produce their H2 and H3 models. GM says that the H1 got around 10 miles per gallon. I doubt that seriously. Cars never get their EMPG. AM General who produces the H1 says that they will no layoffs are planned. I hope not.
In other news the president continues to tapdance around the oval office trying to defend his foreign and domestic policies. The latest revelation in Washington is that all of your phone calls have been logged and sent to the NSA for analysis without you knowing about it. You can read the story here: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/05/13/politics/main1616387.shtml. It appears that this will be a hot topic throughout the summer leading up to the November off-term elections. The president is quoted as saying "Americans expect their government to do everything in its power under our laws and Constitution to protect them and their civil liberties. That is exactly what we are doing." The problem here is that it is not entirely clear if what they are doing is legal or not. Only one telecom company, Qwest, stood up for their customers rights to privacy and declined to blindly hand over their records. (Story here:http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/05/12/politics/printable1616326.shtml) I wonder what else the government is doing to "protect" us.
In some good news Zacharias Moussaoui began serving his six consecutive life sentances today. This loon deserves to be locked away for good. (Story: http://www.foxnews.com/printer_friendly_story/0,3566,195354,00.html) I like how after his sentencaning he tried to ask for a "do over". Sorry Z, not gonna happen. I hope you rot inside your 7x12' cell. You should have plenty of time to think up more clever lyrics to Springsteen's "Born in the USA". So long sucka!!!
